Best Vegan Restaurants In The Algarve You Didn’t Know Existed!
The Algarve is a coastal paradise that the Caavakushi team has been watching closely for years. Historically known for piri-piri chicken and sardines, we’ve noticed that this sun-drenched region is undergoing a massive plant-based revolution. In 2026, the demand for meat-free dining in Portugal has reached an all-time high, with the European vegan market projected to grow at a 11.8% CAGR through 2035.
We’ve felt the change in the air—and on our plates! Finding vegan restaurants in the Algarve Portugal is no longer a treasure hunt it’s more like a feast. From the surf vibes of Lagos to the historic alleys of Faro, here are our top picks for a fun and delicious cruelty-free Portuguese summer.
1. Outro Lado (Faro)
We feel that if you want a 100% authentic experience, Outro Lado is the place. We’ve noticed they specialize in “veganizing” traditional Portuguese seafood. Their Algarve fish stew—made with seaweed-marinated tofu—is 100% genius. They even run an animal sanctuary, which makes every bite taste like pure compassion.
2. Vegan Box (Faro)
The team noticed this cute shoebox cafe which quickly turned into one of our favourite spots for a quick, satisfying bite. We think their vegan Pastel de Nata is a mandatory stop. Statistics show that roughly 95% of visitors to Portugal want to try this pastry and here, you can do it without the eggs!
3. Estudio Vegetariano (Lagos)
This spot has a vibe that we absolutely adore. While it’s vegetarian, the Caavakushi team noticed that about 85% of their menu is vegan-friendly. Their colourful bowls and creative tapas make it a perfect date-night spot after a day at Praia do Camilo.
4. Mel & Limão (Faro)
This is a small, family-run gem where we felt right at home. We’ve noticed their daily specials—like seitan penne or savoury bagels—are always fresh. It’s a 100% vegan space where the owners are clearly in it for the animals.
5. Raízes (Quarteira)
If you find yourself in the glam Marina area, Raízes is a breath of fresh air. We’ve noticed they offer a sophisticated plant-based menu that fits perfectly with the upscale surroundings. It’s a 100% vegan sanctuary in a very touristy area and one of the best restaurants in the Algarve.
6. All Things Dough (Lagos)
As the name suggests, the Caavakushi team picked this special place for carb-lovers. From vegan donuts to savory pastries, everything we tried was a delight. We think it’s the perfect place to stock up for a coastal hike.
7. Alfarroba Café (Albufeira)
Named after the carob trees that grow all over the Algarve, this café is a true local hero. We’ve seen their commitment to health and local sourcing is 100% consistent. Their desserts are naturally sweet and famously considered delicious among vegans.
