Minimal Vegan Representation At London Fashion Week 2025
Let’s talk about progress, shall we? Every year, the industry pats itself on the back because London Fashion Week (LFW) has finally, finally, banned exotic animal skins, following the historic ban on fur. The Caavakushi team agree that yes, not seeing dead crocodiles or snakes on the runway is a monumental relief for the animals. But is that truly a revolutionary move for London Fashion Week in 2025? Hardly. It’s the absolute bare minimum expected of an industry that supposedly champions innovation. When only a fraction of the schedule is dedicated to truly vegan fashion, we have to ask: Where are the rest of the designers? The overwhelming majority still rely on wool, silk, and cow leather.
4 Warriors Of Vegan Fashion
It’s time to assertively highlight the real pioneers. Four dedicated brands made noise around London Fashion Week 2025 with their uncompromising commitment to plant-based ethics. Four. That’s not a revolution; it’s barely a small focus group! We need to demand more. But until then, these are the warriors leading the charge.
1. AMSCHELA (Zero-Compromise, PETA Approved Vegan Luxury)
This is how you do it. AMSCHELA didn’t just dip a toe into ethical waters; they plunged in headfirst. They are a 100% PETA Approved Vegan Brand and were officially listed as a designer showcasing during London Fashion Week 2025. Their focus is on accessible luxury accessories, proving you don’t need a dead cow’s skin to achieve sophistication. The Caavakushi team have noticed their commitment to a circular business model by 2025—a truly ambitious goal. Their pieces are designed to be timeless, a defiant middle finger to fast fashion. They represent the gold standard that every accessory brand should be adopting right now. Seriously, what’s everyone else waiting for?
2. Ray Chu (New-Gen Material Scientist)
Ray Chu is one of the most exciting designers emerging from the London Fashion Week 2025 ecosystem, precisely because they’re not stuck in the past. Their collection translated personal strength into form, but the real power was in the materials. Forget the old-school fibres of exploitation; Chu’s innovative work featured new-gen materials developed using chestnut and cacao waste. Waste! Think about that for a second. This is fashion that isn’t just cruelty-free but is actively cleaning up the planet. This commitment to bio-based fabrics and 3D printing techniques proves that vegan fashion is where the true creativity resides. The excuse that “vegan materials limit design” is simply defunct.
3. Sarah Regensburger (Rebel With A Vegan Cause)
Sarah Regensburger, a German-born, London-based designer, headlined a significant catwalk presentation at LFW 2025, cementing her position as a leading voice in vegan fashion. Regensburger’s philosophy is encapsulated in the phrase, “be a badass that does good.” The brand is strictly committed to championing the vegan and sustainable movement. This ethical commitment earned the brand the PETA ‘Designer of the Year’ award in 2022.
The designer’s LFW 2025 presentation highlighted a unique aesthetic that merges avant-garde glamour with punk influences. The collection, which was featured as part of a forward-thinking catwalk show, reinforced her core beliefs in sustainability, veganism, and diversity.
Regensburger is noted for her innovative use of alternative fabrics that do not harm the environment. Her collections frequently incorporate materials such as bamboo fur and cactus leather as high-quality, cruelty-free replacements for traditional animal-derived textiles. The brand operates on a model of limited, locally-made runs in Europe to ensure ethical production.
4. Stella McCartney (Global Standard Of Conscious Luxury)
Stella McCartney typically shows at Paris Fashion Week (PFW), her influence and continuous commitment to ethical fashion were heavily highlighted at London Fashion Week 2025 through industry discussions and the presence of her collections in key sustainability edits. McCartney remains a foundational figure in the global shift towards conscious luxury.
Stella McCartney is a long-established vegetarian company. A foundational principle of the brand is that none of its collections contain leather, fur, feathers, or exotic skins, and all glues used in shoes and bags are animal-free. This commitment is supported by a robust sustainability strategy focusing on circularity and ethical sourcing.
Stella McCartney’s primary runway presentation for the Summer 2025 collection occurred during Paris Fashion Week, but her work was a central reference point in London for its pioneering approach. This collection was noted for being one of the brand’s most sustainable to date, crafted with 91% conscious materials.
The 2025 collections featured significant material innovations, including the use of Hydefy (a fungi-based leather alternative) and KelsunTM (a seaweed-derived textile) making its debut in luxury fashion. Furthermore, the brand introduced the Stella Ryder bag, a new vegan icon, and the S-Wave Sport Sneaker, engineered from biodegradable polymers, which was recognised by TIME magazine as one of the Best Inventions of 2025 for its compostable sole.
Shame On You London Fashion Week
It’s time for the rest of London Fashion Week to catch up (especially in 2025). Four brands driving the entire ethical movement? We shouldn’t be celebrating the progress of a few; we should be outraged by the continued complicity of the many. Let these four trailblazers serve as a fierce reminder that true style is synonymous with compassion.
