Korean Corn Dog Trend
This food trend has really taken the internet by storm. People are posting video clips and pictures of weird and wonderful Korean corn dogs or Korean hot dogs. They do look a bit like vegan hot dogs, don’t they? Social media influencers are getting very creative with this trend. Some people are deep frying their corn dogs with noodles, and others are adding breakfast cereals into the mix. The possibilities are really endless, and it makes for amazing food porn on all socials. That’s why we felt as though it was extremely unfair that vegans could not really get in on the fun. So, like we always do, the Caavakushi team decided to come up with their own veganized version of Korean corn dogs. They are super simple and quick. We can’t wait for you to learn how to make Korean corn dog recipes that are 100% plant-based!
1. The Classic Vegan Korean Corn Dog
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of vegan gluten-free green banana all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 2 tablespoons of vegan coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt flakes
- 1 cup of almond milk (or any plant-based milk of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of vegan cheese (try cheddar or mozzarella)
- Vegan sausages or hot dogs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, coconut sugar, and sea salt flakes.
- Slowly add almond milk and vegetable oil, stirring until you get a smooth batter.
- Skewer the vegan hot dogs and dip them into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
- Deep fry until golden brown.
- Serve with vegan cheese sauce for dipping.

2. Vegan Sweet Potato Surprise Korean Corn Dog
Ingredients:
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1 cup of chickpea flour
- 1/2 a cup of water
- 1/2 a teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 a teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt flakes
- Vegan sausages or hot dogs (use your favourite brand)
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes and then blend into to a paste.
- Combine chickpea flour, water, paprika, garlic powder, and sea salt flakes and add the sweet potato paste and mix together to create the batter.
- Skewer the vegan hot dog sausages and dip them into the batter.
- Deep fry until golden.
- Serve with vegan ketchup.

3. Vegan Mozzarella-Stuffed Korean Corn Dog
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 1 cup of vegan gluten-free green banana all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of vegan coconut sugar
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vegan sea salt flakes
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Vegan mozzarella cheese cubes
- Vegan sausages or hot dogs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Mix cornmeal, all-purpose flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, and sea salt flakes.
- Add almond milk and vegetable oil, creating a smooth batter.
- Skewer vegan hot dog sausages and place small mozzarella cheese cubes around the sausages. Use the batter as glue to stick the cubes on.
- Then dip the sausages fully into the batter and deep-fry immediately.
- Enjoy the gooey, cheesy delight!

4. Vegan Kimchi Korean Corn Dog
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of vegan gluten-free green banana all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of vegan coconut sugar
- 1/2 a cup of vegan kimchi, chopped
- 1/2 a cup of vegan kimchi juice
- 2 tablespoons of vegan soy sauce
- 1 cup of almond milk
- Vegan sausages or hot dogs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and coconut sugar.
- Add chopped vegan kimchi, vegan kimchi juice, vegan soy sauce, and almond milk to create the batter.
- Skewer vegan hot dogs and dip them into the kimchi-infused batter.
- Deep fry to perfection and serve with vegan mayonnaise.

5. Vegan Pesto & Sundried Tomato Korean Corn Dog
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of vegan gluten-free green banana all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of vegan coconut sugar
- 1 cup of almond milk
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Vegan pesto sauce
- Sundried tomatoes, chopped
- Vegan sausages or hot dogs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and coconut sugar.
- Stir in almond milk and vegetable oil to make the batter.
- Skewer vegan hot dogs and coat them with pesto sauce.
- Sprinkle chopped sundried tomatoes on the coated hot dogs.
- Deep fry to crispy perfection and serve with vegan pesto dip.
