Fox Hunting Ban In The UK Doesn’t Stop Illegal Bloodshed & Trail Hunting

Fox Hunting Ban In The UK Doesn't Stop Illegal Bloodshed & Trail Hunting Caavakushi

What Is Trail Hunting & What Does It Have To Do With The Fox Hunting Ban?

Let’s talk facts for a minute. If you live in the UK, you probably think the fox hunting ban settled the score back in 2004. We’ve all been told that chasing a living, breathing animal with a pack of hounds is a relic of the past. But here at the Caavakushi team, we’ve been looking at the 2026 field reports, and we’ve stumbled upon something chilling. The bloodshed truly hasn’t stopped; it’s just found a very clever, very legal-sounding mask called trail hunting.

We feel it’s time to stop being polite about this. We think it’s time to look at the numbers that the pro-hunt lobby doesn’t want you to see.

3.7% Truth (The Smokescreen Exposed)

The Caavakushi team noticed a staggering statistic from of the recent hunting season (which ended in March 2026). Out of 624 hunt meets monitored across England and Wales by the League Against Cruel Sports, only 3.7% of them actually contained evidence of a trail being laid (Our source: League Against Cruel Sports).

Wait, it gets worse. Even in those few cases where a trail was supposedly laid, observers still saw 22 foxes being chased. We feel that trail hunting is totally a smokescreen. A legal fiction designed to allow the fox hunting ban to be bypassed every weekend.

488 Foxes & The “Havoc” Map

During the 2025-2026 season, the Caavakushi team did some digging and found that at least 488 foxes were seen being chased in broad daylight (Our source: Politics Home). This isn’t just about the foxes, though. We’ve seen a total of 1,220 hunt havoc incidents. This includes hounds running amok on railway lines, livestock being worried, and domestic pets being terrified in their own gardens.

We think it’s wild that in 2026, 52% of all illegal chases are concentrated in the West Country, with Gloucestershire, Dorset, and Somerset being the worst offenders (Our source: League Against Cruel Sports).

81% Public Mandate

One thing the Caavakushi team finds incredibly encouraging is that the public has seen through the lies. We spotted that 81% of the UK population is 100% in favour of keeping the ban on hunting with dogs (Our source: RSPCA).

Even more impressive? A 2026 FindOutNow poll revealed that 70% of people living in the countryside support stronger laws to stop foxes being chased (Our source: League Against Cruel Sports). We feel this completely destroys the myth that fox hunting is essential to rural life.

The Caavakushi Perspective

We think it’s time to close the loopholes. We’ve know that without custodial sentences, the fox hunting ban is treated like a minor parking ticket by those who break it. Currently, the maximum penalty is just a fine. The Caavakushi team feels that until we introduce prison time for illegal hunting, these smokescreen activities will continue to drain police resources and take innocent lives.

Surprisingly even the National Police Lead on fox hunting crime has described illegal hunting as prolific. If the police think it’s a problem, we think it’s only fair for the government to finally listen.

Final Thoughts From The Caavakushi Team

The Caavakushi team believe the fox hunting ban was a landmark victory, but it was only half the battle. We think that by banning trail hunting and removing the smokescreen exemptions, we can finally make the UK a 100% safe place for our wildlife.

Caavakushi Team Tips: The Caavakushi team urges you to support the current UK Government consultation on banning trail hunting to ensure the bloodshed finally ends.
